About the Event
This is our resident tournament director Connor's own creation and was recently voted "World's Favorite Pinball Tournament" at the 2021 TWIPY awards! It is a modified 3-strike tournament where every player gets to become either a hero or a villain from the X-Men Universe, accompanied with their powers that can benefit their own score, harm their opponents, or change the entire landscape of the tournament itself!
Prior to the beginning of the tournament, players will need to play one qualifying game on the X-Men pinball machine (please notify Connor at the front desk before the start of your game). We will have the machine available the weekend prior to the event so folks can submit their qualifying score before the day of the tournament, as it gets quite busy right before the start of the tourney. The last game can be started on the machine no later than 6:45pm. If a player does not get a qualifying game prior to the start of the tournament, their qualifying score will be 0.
At 7:00pm we will start the X-Men draft. Starting the player who has the highest qualifying score, they will get to select which Hero or Villain they will mutate into. The second highest qualifying score will then get to select which character they would like to be, and so on until all tournament players have mutated. You will be that character for the entirety of the tournament.
Once all players have a character, we get to the pinball! You'll be drawn in four player matches. As your character, you have the opportunity to use your powers throughout the tournament. Some characters have pre-match powers, some have powers that get activated during the games, and some characters have after-round effects. After playing your game, the bottom 2 scores in your game will get a strike and once you get three strikes, you'll be knocked out of the tournament. We will continue until one mutant is left standing.
Cost is the $20 entry fee to Next Level + $5 tournament entry fee, which is donated to Project Pinball.
Our tournaments are open to people of all skill levels and experience. This is a great way to meet people in the hobby and improve your own skills!
